Main works

The NSW Government committed $62.9 million to the redevelopment of Sutherland Hospital in January 2015.

The main works include:
  • A new and expanded emergency department with 44 treatment bays, including three resuscitation bays
  • 60 new acute inpatient beds (including six high dependency/intensive care beds)
  • Storage space for theatres to improve efficiencies.
Early planning studies including the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District’s Asset Strategic Plan 2012-2017 and Health Care Services Plan 2012-2017 both indicate that the redevelopment is the most effective use of resources  to meet the health care needs of our community. Early works began in January 2015 and main works construction commenced in early 2016.
